Splintered

Instrumentation: Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Piano and Audio Playback

Duration: 9

Year: 2017

This composition is a result of an exploration into the deconstruction of Brahms's music and its subsequent reconstruction in a new form. Through this process, the melodies were fragmented, and playing techniques on the instruments were dissolved, creating a unique score that departs significantly from its source material. Despite the departure, there remains a faint trace of a bygone era that resonates throughout the work, adding depth to the overall composition. Romantic melodies, though fragmented, are still present, and the instruments themselves are a nod to the origins of the piano quartet genre.
